Unfortunately Solar panels on the roof can become a perfect place for pigeons to make themselves a new home. Over time this can cause damage to your roof and solar system, it can also be expensive to get cleaned and fixed up.

Generally pigeons are an issue in coastal towns but not always, the picture attached (right) is a house with pigeon issues in Tranmere. 

What we advise is if you think pigeons may be a problem in your area or you just don’t want to risk, consider installing solar bird mesh around your panels (see picture below) when installing your solar system. It may be an extra cost but it is much cheaper to install the bird mesh before the issue occurs than after.
